1st (First) Beach

The number one beach in Vancouver. It gets hot, sandy and busy ... so get down early in the summer. Awesome scenery over English Bay. Warm and fuzzy romantic sunsets.

Lots of sand and grass to accommodate lots of bodies, but it does get busy in summer, so get there early in the day. 1st Beach gets the sun all day - so any time is good. It can get windy when there is an onshore wind - check out the wind direction on the weather site if you don’t like sand in your eyes.

The scenery is beautiful from the beach - watch the boats come and go and the activity across the way at Vanier Park. There is plenty to eat nearby on Denman Street or at the concession in the summer months. You can get to 1st Beach by foot, bike, skates or jogging. Go for a run around Stanley Park and then end it with a swim and tanning session at 1st Beach.

Swimming is good for adults and kids. Don’t forget to bring your sunglasses so that you can spy out the talent and bodies.
