Biking - Asphalt
Vancouver area has a number of road cycling routes for enthusiasts and families - they are all beautifully scenic. Some are challenging and mountainous, others - like the Stanley Park seawall - are for all ages.
If you are looking for a family biking opportunity, then try Stanley Park seawall. The seawall will give you the best 360 view of Vancouver - from city views, to North Shore mountains. Summers can get busy, so get out early if you have little ones and remember, it is a one way route around the park. Semour Demonstration Forest is more challenging with more ups and downs. You will be biking on the forest access road - largely redone for recreational bikers and in-line skaters a few years ago. You will certainly get a work-out biking this one. If you have the cardio, stamina and street smarts, then try cycling up the Cypress Mountain or Mt. Seymour access roads. The Cypress road gives a beautiful city view point higher up. Both roads are very challenging - so make sure you know what you are doing. Marine drive is another cyclist choice - stretching from Lion’s Gate to Horseshoe Bay. Marine drive is scenic, but can get dicey with cars rushing by. The road gets more challenging for the cyclist towards Horseshoe Bay. You can also bypass Horseshoe Bay and go straight out to Whyte Cliff Park as your end point.
