Cates Park
North Vancouver's biggest beach and beach park. Nice clear, cold and refreshing swims. Playgrounds, picnics and fields await.
Cates Park is located to the east of the Second Narrows Bridge on the way to Deep Cove. There is plenty of grass space to enjoy, picnic benches, a new playground and a few small beaches. Cates Park is nestled amongst some large trees and provides a nice Canadian beach/park experience. You will want to get to Cates Park early in summer as things do get busy and parking (though plenty) can get tight. Cates Park is a popular destination for big groups.
The swimming is quite good at Cates Park. There is a lifeguard on duty in summer on the main beach. The water can be frigid and clear. The beaches are quite sandy and there are a few rocks to explore.
