Granville Island Market
Check out Vancouver’s best public market on Granville Island. Watch the mini ferries shooting around False Creek and check out the million dollar yachts in the marina.
Granville Island is always a fun destination. You don’t have to spend money if you don’t want to. Browse the markets with all the locals and tourists and check out the fresh seafood and delicate sweets. You will find live entertainment outside in the warmer months - anything from jugglers to musicians. There are lots of stores to browse on the Island - from woodwork, to brooms, to arts and kids toys. Other sights include the adjacent marinas with million dollar yachts, lots of boats coming and going into False Creek, bridge architecture (Granville Island sits under Granville Bridge), catches of the day as fishing boats return to the docks, and you can always see many fascinating people at any time of the year. Watch your head - the seagulls do get feisty at times. If you are going to pick up something to eat, eat it inside or expect a barrage of gulls. You can get to Granville Island by car, bike, foot, ferry, bus, Sky Train and more. Free parking can be tight if you don’t get there early enough. Great access via the seawall through the Olympic Village - you can do the seawall on bike or by foot. You can also access Vanier Park and Kitsilano easily by heading west on the seawall (at the entrance to Granville Island).
